Marin Nomad is a dynamic blog written and photographed by Mary Serphos that highlights the natural gems of Marin County, California including hiking trails, beaches, parks and sometimes businesses, events, restaurants, and community culture. There are also entries that transport the reader out of Marin into the rest of California and the world.
Here is some of what inspires….
I yearn to delve deep into ancient civilizations where each turn of a corner tells another story. I yearn to wander, roam and hike up switchback trails in Marin, California, or meander along rivers that cut through humid junglescapes where the crickets hypnotic rhythm gives way to human surrender. And I yearn to get lost in the back alleys of colonial cities such as Havana, Cuba; Granada, Nicaragua or Cartagena, Colombia and discover the stunning beauty of urban decay. And yet, I also yearn for home, for quiet, a chance to hear the birdsong at daybreak from my own bed and wake up to put a pot of tea or coffee on a slow boil and choose from my collection from around the world; Darjeeling, Java, Costa Rica or Oolong…
