A bit about the Founder Zach Pine
In 2005, environmental artist Zach Pine was searching for an Earth Day event that was in keeping with his socially engaged art practice: creating models and methods for collective creativity; connecting people of all ages with each other and with the natural world; and inspiring joy, spontaneity, and environmental action. He decided to host a small gathering at Stinson Beach: the First Annual Free Create-With-Nature Earth Day Celebration. Thanks to the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and the National Park Service Golden Gate National Recreation Area, he was able to create an all-volunteer event combining beach cleanup with creative activities aimed at
strengthening our connections to each other and the natural world.
